Expert Tips for the Perfect Bedding

When we decorate a living space in a client ‘ s home we try to accommodate all family members, but a bedroom is a very special and private place and so we take extra care to give your sanctuary that perfect atmosphere, which will make you feel comfortable and relaxed so that you can wake up rested and refreshed every day. Our first question to clients who want to decorate their bedroom is if they have any furniture in the bedroom with a fabric they love. We also ask some questions to find out which style they like the most and this is our starting point to help them choose the perfect fabric for their special place. If you are starting from scratch, we usually recommend to start by picking a window covering fabric because this is usually the biggest and the most visible part of a bedroom. Once we have the draperies taken care of we recommend to make bed skirts and one rectangular pillow or neck roll pillow, with the same fabric as your draperies. The most popular bed skirt style is tailored, with pleats. If you have, or want us to make a fabric headboard we can use the same fabric for bed skirt pleats or we can use the same fabric as for the pillows. For your bedcover you can use a quilted bedspread, coverlet or just a bedspread with interlining support to give it a lighter look and feel. For a throw style bedcover we recommend to finish with a big piping. Piping can be made with fabric on bias or with readymade lip cord or fringes. If you are looking for a traditional look, fringes will do the trick. A fitted bedcover is always more sophisticated and gives you that custom look rather than a throw style and makes your bed look more elegant. For queen and king size beds, a stripe fabric will make the bed seem longer and give you more options for cushions an headboard if you want one. A mattered corner in a contrast fabric looks absolutely beautiful and your bed will have nice and clean fitted lines. Cushions are like jewels on a bed, so changing covers on your cushions can completely change the whole look of your bed and it is an inexpensive way to change the look of your room from time to time.
